40th Anniversary
In March 2010 the Club celebrated its 40th birthday. In celebration of our 40th anniversary as a Club a special member’s lunch was held in Cleveleys Masonic Hall.
Over 50 ordinary and honorary members, including 7 former presidents attended. We were pleased to welcome as our guest of honour David Shaw, President of Thornton Cleveleys Rotary Club.
Prior to lunch Derek Timms gave members a potted but enlightening history of the Club, from its founding days to the current time. Following that, excerpts from a DVD about the Club and its members prepared by pupils from Thames Primary School in Blackpool was shown. Then as each member sat down to lunch he was given a commerative pen to mark the Club’s 40 years existence.
After an enjoyable lunch David Shaw proposed a toast to the Club and the immediate Past President duly replied on behalf of the Club. This left the Club President, Raymond Scott free to thank all the members who had given their invaluable assistance to ensure the event was an overwhelming success.
